Azad Singh was named thus as he was born on 15 Aug. He passed out of the Alma Mater and joined BSF in 97. He fell at Khulmula,Kangan, North Kashmir.

He volunteered to lead the vanguard element in a Counter Insurgency Operation which ended up in a hand to hand combat. Successful at eliminating the Anti National Elements, he laid down his life in the finest traditions.

He is survived by Alka Azad, a familiar and venerated figure amidst those studying at KMC during the years and a son.

Azad was a pinnacle figure for the hostellers, and a mentor for many who came in contact with him.

He lives amidst us through his memories which we cherish and still discuss regularly.
